Tracks to the past. Reconstructing the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. Speaker Ed Farrell
For seventeen years, I have been combining art and historic research to recreate landscapes of lost Liverpool from 1675 on. This talk presents some of those images and their creative process. My focus will be the recreation of views of the L&MR not seen for 200 years; travelling the railway, illustrating its physical construct, and touching on its difficult heritage and social impacts. Overall, as the biennial approaches, I hope to offer an entirely fresh look at an unparalleled human achievement that helped to change the world.
Our speaker Ed Farrell:
After University (double honours Eng Lit/Hist) I joined the Civil Service by mistake – a career in IT in the main. For the last 15 years at least, I have been a self-appointed artist and keen amateur historian, researching and constructing collaborative landscapes of lost Liverpool from 1675. A range of entirely new views of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway form the core of this talk.
