Kirkdale Prison Hangings – Martin Baggoley
Martin Baggoley is a retired probation officer who qualified at Liverpool University and is the author of several books on the history of crime. His talk will focus on the murderers hanged in public and in private, during the nineteenth century. Issues discussed will include domestic violence in a patriarchal society, why poison became the weapon of choice for Victorian murderesses and child murder.
