The Long Company. Speaker Gareth Winrow.

The Long company feature in Gareth Winrow’s book about his own family history. They were a band of criminals who terrified Prescot in the mid 19th century,  think Peaky Blinders with a Lancashire accent. This is their story.

Our speaker: Author, researcher and public speaker, Gareth worked in Istanbul for twenty years where he was a Professor of International Relations. Recently, he has focused on local, social and family history. His latest book about his own family is titled: ‘Past Lives, Forgotten Stories: Cobbled Patchworks of History’ (The Book Guild, 2026).
